Part-time Work for International Students
International students residing in Japan under the “Student” status of residence may engage in part-time work under certain conditions by obtaining “Permission to Engage in Activity Other Than That Permitted by the Status of Residence Previously Granted” from the Immigration Services Agency.
Without this permission, you cannot work part-time. Please also note that students who have withdrawn or graduated (completed their studies) from this school are not permitted to engage in activities outside the scope of their visa status.
Maximum Working Hours for Part-Time Jobs
During the academic term: Up to 28 hours per week
During school-designated long breaks (e.g., spring, summer, winter vacations): Up to 8 hours per day

Industries Where Part-Time Work is Prohibited
Working in the following industries or occupations is prohibited by law.
Violations may result in revocation of your residence status or deportation. Before starting any part-time job, always verify the nature of your employer’s business.
Adult Entertainment Businesses (e.g., bars, cabarets, nightclubs)
Sex-related businesses (both storefront and non-storefront)
Designated Entertainment Establishments (e.g., restaurants providing late-night hospitality services)
