Notification of Completion of Update Review for International Standard "ISO29991" at Kyoto Campus.

The Kyoto Campus (ISI Language School, Kyoto) completed the renewal review for the international standard "ISO29991" for language learning services on March 1. (Certification body: JAMOTE Certification Services Co., Ltd.)

The "ISO29991" is a set of requirements specifically tailored for language learning service providers, aimed at improving the quality of language learning services and, consequently, enhancing customer satisfaction. Regular audits are conducted annually, with a renewal audit every three years.

At the Kyoto Campus, an on-site audit was conducted over two days on February 1 and February 2, 2024.
As a result of the audit, there were no requests for improvement, non-conformities, or observations noted in any of the audit items, and comments were provided regarding efforts towards further quality improvement, along with three strong points that were evaluated.

Three Strong Points of Kyoto Campus

1. Crisis Management Manual and Emergency Response

The school has established a crisis management manual, indicating the actions to be taken by staff and learners in the event of an emergency. We actively engage in safety measures, such as conducting annual evacuation drills and confirming evacuation routes at the start of the school year. These efforts have been recognized as contributing to a sense of security for learners who have little experience with earthquakes.

2. Analysis of Academic Performance Data and Improvement of Educational Quality

We are undertaking efforts to aggregate and compare learners' performance data by school within the ISI group. We are striving for mutual improvement among schools by utilizing this data from various angles. Our efforts to enhance the quality of language learning services through innovative teaching methods have been recognized and highlighted as a strong point.

3. Multilingual information provision

We are preparing various materials such as recruitment guidelines, school brochures, and websites in multiple languages, so that learners and parents can check them before enrollment. The website, which supports 13 languages, has been praised for its careful consideration in using expressions that avoid misunderstandings, as well as for its high update frequency, providing the latest information.

Overall evaluation from the certification body.

The ISI Group's commitment to language education demonstrates a high level of educational capability, and I feel that it is a solid educational institution as a whole. In particular, the new beginner syllabus incorporates ID methods in syllabus design and the introduction of LMS, which promotes self-study.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the group actively promotes internal audits among its schools and works on the proper standardization of self-evaluation. In aiming to improve the quality of education, there is a notable attitude of lowering self-evaluation from "excellent" to "achieved" for items that still require improvement, which indicates a high level of aspiration.
As the COVID-19 pandemic stabilizes and the number of students rapidly increases, it is expected that the faculty and staff structure will also be strengthened, leading to further development.
