The contract period for student dormitories varies by campus. For long-term stays, Tokyo and Kyoto are on a semester basis, Osaka is on a two-semester basis, and Nagano is on a three-month basis for applications and contracts.
The shortest stay for short-term accommodation is 2 weeks, and depending on the accommodation, applications can be made from 4 weeks. We recommend a maximum stay of about 3 months for short-term stays.
If you wish to extend your stay, you can consult with the staff at your accommodation after moving in to directly proceed with the extension process. - What kind of accommodation is a Guest House?

There are several share houses with furniture in Tokyo and Osaka, and guest houses are one type of them.
There are no restrictions requiring a Japanese guarantor, making it a place where people from various nationalities can rent a room for a long term.
The bedrooms are private, but the kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and other shared spaces like the dining area and TV room are communal. Meals are self-catered. - Can I have friends or family stay overnight at the Student Dormitory / Homestay / Guest House / Weekly Mansion?

The accommodations arranged by ISI have their own rules, and you cannot host others.
When your family or friends stay in Japan, we ask that you arrange for a hotel or other separate accommodations. - I am vegetarian / allergic to pets / a non-smoker. Can you introduce me to a host family that matches my requirements?

The homestay application form includes sections for indicating any dietary restrictions or allergies. Based on the information you provide there, we will introduce you to families that best meet your conditions.

It depends on the type of accommodation.
Homestays include breakfast and dinner, but student dormitories, guesthouses, and weekly apartments are generally self-catering. Please check the details for each accommodation. - Is a guarantor necessary?

Typically, a guarantor within Japan is not required for accommodations arranged by schools.
However, some properties may have special conditions, so please check in advance.
