COVID-19

Information regarding our school’s response to novel coronavirus.

In response to the rapid spread of the coronavirus infection worldwide, the Japanese government decided on March 18 that, in addition to China and South Korea (* 1), it has been decided to suspend visa issuance and validity in 38 countries, including France, the UK and almost all of Europe (*2). Also, measures have been taken for all visitors (Japanese included) from these countries to wait for the first 14 days after entering Japan at the quarantine station’s designated places, such as at home or in a hotel, and to request them to refrain from using public transportation in Japan.

The measures for the specified countries (* 2) this time started on March 21 and are to be implemented until April 30. During this period, you will not be able to enter Japan from the specified countries. (This period is subject to updates.)

Classes will be held as usual at the ISI Japanese Language Schools from the April term, (Class start date: Tokyo- Takadanobaba, Ikebukuro Campus and Kyoto Campus: 9 April (Thu.), Nagano Campus: April 8 ( Wed)) but for new students who are unable to attend school on the first day of class in April due to delays in immigration because of the restrictions on entry by the Japanese government or suspension of visa issuance by the authorities, we will provide learning support through supplementary classes after admission. Information on these supplementary classes will be provided after entry to Japan.

In addition, classes are scheduled to begin in early May for countries where the restrictions on entry and suspension of visa issuance by the authorities is to be lifted on March 31 (* 1). We will notify you as soon as we have confirmed that the above measures have been lifted and that visa issuance is starting again. To make up for missed classes, learning support will be provided through supplementary classes and so on by using the free time from Saturdays, summer and autumn holidays.

Please check the official website of the Japanese Embassy and Consulate at any time for the latest information on visa measures. ISI is looking forward to your enrolment.
