ISI Shibuya Harajuku Campus Student Selected as a Recipient of the Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholarship

What is the Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship?

The Kyoritsu Maintenance Scholarship provides support for the academic and daily lives of privately funded international students, primarily those from Asian countries studying in Japan.
The scholarship is a non-repayable scholarship that provides JPY 60,000 per month.

Introducing the Recipient

Adeline Stephanie is from Indonesia and is currently studying at ISI Shibuya Harajuku Campus.

Before coming to Japan, she gained experience through her strong initiative and passion for growth, balancing her work as a company employee while also pursuing her own business. She fulfilled her dream of studying abroad, which she had carried since her teenage years, and continues to work hard every day toward her goals.

We recently had the opportunity to interview Adeline, and we would like to share her story.

Congratulations on being selected for the Kyoritsu International Foundation Scholarship. Could you share your thoughts on receiving this scholarship?

I am truly happy. Thinking that my parents would be proud of me fills me with joy. I sincerely appreciate this opportunity, and I hope to continue doing my best and working hard in the future.

How was the scholarship selection process? Could you share anything you especially focused on while working toward receiving the scholarship?

To be honest, I was very nervous when I applied. However, with the support of my teacher and friends, I was able to move forward without giving up. I truly feel that this achievement was made possible by the support and encouragement of those around me.

What made you decide to study abroad in Japan?

Japan seemed like an exciting place, but at the same time, I felt a little nervous about living abroad for the first time. However, that was exactly what motivated me to challenge myself and ultimately led me to choose Japan. It became a major factor in my decision to study abroad.

What has been the biggest change for you since studying in Japan?

I think the biggest change has been learning the importance of self-discipline, as well as developing a stronger sense of compassion and willingness to support others. Through my daily experiences, I feel that these values have naturally become a part of me.

Do you have any study strategies or tips that have helped you improve your Japanese skills?

It is important to have the courage to reach out to others and not be afraid to ask for help. Instead of keeping my questions to myself, I try to learn from the people around me, which has helped me gradually build a deeper understanding.

How have you found your classes at school? Is there a class or teacher that has left a strong impression on you?

The school materials are very well designed, and the classes are easy to understand. The teachers are also very kind, which has made me feel comfortable learning here. I am especially grateful to Ms. Yaguchi and Ms. Kawamata for their support.

Could you tell us about your plans after graduation and your future goals or dreams?

I hope to work in Japan in the future. I would like to join a company that helps connect Japanese people with people from around the world and become someone who can serve as a bridge between them.

What advice would you give to students who are considering studying in Japan in the future?

I believe that building a good friendship is very important. I also think it is important to ask for help from the people around you when you need it and to follow the rules in Japan. These small efforts can lead to a more fulfilling study abroad experience.

Adeline has fulfilled her long-held dream of studying abroad and continues to move forward step by step in a new environment. Through this interview, we were especially impressed by her gratitude toward those around her and her commitment to challenging herself. We look forward to seeing her continued growth and future achievements. All of us at ISI will continue to support her learning journey and future endeavors.

An interview article about this scholarship achievement has also been published on our group schools’ websites.
