Officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology visited ISI Language School, Shinjuku

Recently, four officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) — Mr. Kameda, Officer for Educational Planning and Coordination; Mr. Kobayashi, Specialist for Japanese Language Education Evaluation; Mr. Masuda, Japanese Language Education Research Officer; and Mr. Saito — visited ISI Language School, Shinjuku. The visit, which lasted about two hours, covered a wide range of activities, including an overview of the school, a tour of the facilities, classroom visits, an exchange of opinions, and interactions with students who have confirmed their future academic or career paths.
The visit served as a highly valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of our school’s educational activities.

The guests closely observed students engaged in learning Japanese during the classroom visits.
They listened with great interest as students actively participated in discussions and worked collaboratively through pair work to address various tasks.
They also shared their thoughts and raised questions regarding the school’s original teaching materials and the students’ diverse national backgrounds.
In addition, they showed interest in the wide range of age groups among Japanese language instructors at the school and shared their expectations for the future development of Japanese language educators.

Following the facility tour, an overview of the school’s educational philosophy, student support system, and daily initiatives was provided, after which an active exchange of opinions took place.
Questions were raised regarding the use of ICT and study sessions aimed at improving the quality of Japanese language teachers, making it a valuable opportunity to further refine our future initiatives.
The wide range of questions raised by officials from MEXT led to a meaningful discussion that allowed us to take a broader view of the educational environment and reaffirm areas for improvement.

The visit concluded with an interaction with students who are about to graduate.
While a bit nervous, the students introduced themselves and shared their reasons for choosing ISI and their future goals. The warm words of congratulations and encouragement became an unforgettable source of motivation for the students.

Through this visit, officials from MEXT gained a deeper understanding of the learning environment at ISI Language School Shinjuku and the students’ learning experiences, while also sharing valuable insights.
We will continue to incorporate the feedback we received into our future school operations and further advance our efforts to create a learning environment in which every student can learn with confidence and grow.
