Along the Seibu Line – Red Spider Lily

The Higanbana, or red spider lily, has long been known as an ominous flower. Due to its toxicity, it was once planted around rice fields and homes to keep pests away. Additionally, it was sometimes planted around graves to pay respect to the deceased, leading people to begin finding the flower itself unsettling.

You won't want to miss the chance to see these ominous flowers bloom in hundreds at once. In a small village in Koma, Saitama Prefecture, this flower field blooms gloriously in late September, and it is truly a sight to behold.
If you visit the Kanto region around late September, be sure to check it out. The entrance fee is about 300 yen, and you can experience the beauty of the flowers. The locals also sell handmade goods and homegrown vegetables around the village, so take your time to check those out as well.
