An Interest in Japan That Started with Anime

My interest in Japan began with the anime "Sailor Moon," which I watched as a child. After that, I also became interested in Japanese music, fashion, and culture, and started wanting to try living in Japan. At ISI, I was able to meet students from all over the world and study while supporting each other. I passed JLPT N2, found a part-time job, and have been able to build up experience living in Japan.

Q1: Why did you decide to study abroad in Japan?

I have liked anime since I was a child, and as I grew up, I became interested in Japanese music, fashion, and culture as well. I have visited Japan several times, and from those experiences, I have come to think, "I would like to study here for a while."
If possible, I hope to stay in Japan for a long time in the future and work while enjoying the charm of this country.

Q2 Why did you choose ISI?

I was recommended this school by a friend. Also, knowing that there are campuses in Harajuku and Shibuya felt very attractive to me as someone who loves fashion, and I thought it was great that I could study in an international environment.
I passed the JLPT N2 and was able to find a part-time job.

Q3: What are some memorable things from your school life?

Recently, I passed the JLPT N2 exam. To be honest, I was very surprised because I didn't think I could get that far. I believe I was well-prepared thanks to ISI's JLPT preparation classes.
Also, by starting a part-time job, I feel that I have had many more opportunities to use Japanese in real situations, and I have improved quite a bit. I didn't think I would be able to get this far.

Q4: A message for those who will study abroad.

Honestly, I think I will be very anxious at first. I will be living in a completely different country and culture, and I might not have any acquaintances. But I still believe it is worth the challenge.
Now, I have made friends in a country I never imagined, and I am very happy about that. I think it is an experience that allows me to grow not only in my Japanese skills but also as a person.
