What Japanese Language Institutions can do to support refugees.

The ISI Group supports individuals who have fled to Japan due to war, conflict, or persecution by providing free Japanese language education.

In addition to education on essential Japanese language skills and Japanese culture necessary for living and working in Japan, we also provide career support for those in need, such as assistance with employment and further education. This initiative is supported by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and has accepted a total of 76 students by September 2025.

ISI, based on its corporate philosophy of "contributing to the realization of people's dreams and the development of the international community through the creation of educational environments for global human resource development," will continue to support those who have difficulty studying or working in their home countries due to war or conflict.

We have established multiple scholarship programs, each with different application requirements, recruitment periods, and amounts, so please contact us for more details.
*As of September 2025

Student Voices

Since coming to Japan, I have met many Japanese people who want to know more about Ukraine. One of my goals in learning Japanese is to convey what is happening in my home country in my own words.

Mr. S 24 years old, enrolled at Harajuku school

By studying at ISI, I can help other Ukrainians who are in the same situation. Without language skills, even ordinary things become difficult. I want to work in Japan and quickly become a part of society while communicating.

R 26 years old, Ikebukuro Campus enrolled

The main purpose of learning is to work in Japan. The skills acquired in my home country should surely be useful. Additionally, making friends is essential for blending into Japanese society. Language is fundamental and serves as a power that can brighten life in a foreign country, even during dark times.

L-san 25 years old, enrolled at Ikebukuro Campus

When the war broke out, I had just graduated from school. I came to Japan recently, but I already feel the necessity of learning Japanese. Although I am a bit confused, I want to do my best to pass the entrance exams for Japanese educational institutions.
