Would you like to express your dream with a video?

ISI will hold a video contest to support students who are enthusiastic about studying toward their dreams and goals with scholarships.

Reasons, purposes, preparations or even conflicts for studying abroad in Japan.

Please express your passion for studying in Japan, new experiences you look forward at ISI Kyoto / Nagano, or dreams you want to pursue in Kyoto/Nagano through videos. We are waiting for your creative works!

Theme 「My Dream in ISI Kyoto / Nagano」
Eligible applicants: Those who are considering studying in Japan or who are interested in Japan
* You can enter as an individuals or a group. In the case of a group, the representative will be the winner. In addition, only one work can be submitted per individual / group.
Entry fee: Free
Number of entries 1 video per person (group)
Video’s length Within 2 to 3 minutes
About language on video Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Russian
(For languages other than the above, be sure to include subtitles in the above languages)
Scholarship Grand Prize 1 person: 200,000 JPY
Excellence Award 3 persons: 100,000 JPY
ISI Special Award 14 persons: 50,000 JPY
* Exemption from long-term course tuition at ISI Kyoto campus or Nagano campus.
Submission deadline: Until 23:59 (Japan time) on November 15th Sunday, 2020


(1) SNS(Instagram/Weibo/VK)
Follow ISI’s official SNS (Instagram: isijapan, isijapan_es, Weibo: ISI日本语言学校, VK: isi_school), and post a video with a hashtag of either #isijapan2020 or @ISI 日本语言学校. * Those who do not follow ISI’s official SNS will not be selected.

Please upload to YouTube, get the shared URL of the video and send an email to ( with the URL to entry.
* When uploading to YouTube, be sure to include “My Dream in ISI Kyoto / Nagano” in the title.
* Please set the public setting to “Public” or “Unlisted”.

Those who have passed the primary screening or have been contacted by ISI are requested to submit the following contents.

  • Entry video (File format: MP4 or .MOV, Image size: HD HDTV (1280 x 720) or higher resolution recommended)
  • Thumbnail image of the video
  • Video description (up to about 100 characters)
  • Applicant profile (name, applicant photo, nationality, Email address)
  • How to submit: Upload the video to cloud storage such as Dropbox ( or Google Drive, send an email to ( with the video’s URL. * Please do not set a password.

    Grand Priza 1 person: 200,000 JPY
    Excellence Award 3 persons: 100,000 JPY
    ISI Special Award 14 persons: 50,000 JPY

    1.Is the video in line with the theme?
    2.From the standpoint of others, does the content you want to convey has a story that is easy to understand and is impressive?
    3.Do you express creatively by devising your ability to think and conceive and your own expression method?

  • Examination method
    1.Primary screening: Comprehensive screening of application requirements and work content
    2.Final Judgment: Final selection by the judges to determine the winning works (Grand Prize, Excellence Award, ISI Special Award)
  • Schedule
    1.Submission deadline: Until 23:59 (Japan time) on Sunday, November 15, 2020
    2.Announcement of the primary screening: December 22nd Tuesday, 2020
    3.Final Judging Announcement: Announcement of Winners on January 22nd Friday, 2021
    * Each schedule is subject to change due to schedule.
  • Entries must be original and unpublished works taken by the applicant or the group.
  • The type of work, such as animation and Computer Graphics, is not limited.
  • The copyright of the submitted work belongs to the author, but the secondary use right belongs to ISI. In addition, ISI shall be able to use the winning works exclusively for promotional activities free of charge.
  • Please use only works that have no problem under copyright law.
  • If a person or copyright (painting, photo, work of art, etc.) is reflected in the video, be sure to obtain the consent of the person and copyright. In the unlikely event that there is any objection from those who have all rights such as copyright and portrait right, it shall be resolved at the applicant’s responsibility and burden, and the organizer shall not take any responsibility.
  • Works that are offensive to public order and morals, have political purposes, or are intended to be advertised or solicited, such as religious solicitations, will not be judged.
  • If a violation of the application rules is found in the submitted work, or if the organizer judges that it is inappropriate, it will not be judged. If a violation is found after winning the prize, the prize may be cancelled.
  • We may edit or reorganize the submitted work to the extent required by ISI.
  • The prize-winning works and the names of the prizewinners will be posted on the ISI website.
  • Those who have won the Grand Prize or Excellence Award will be asked to cooperate with ISI’s public relations activities after enrollment.
  • In the unlikely event that a person with an Excellence Award or higher cannot study abroad in Japan, such as not being granted a residence certificate or declining admission, he / she will be excluded from the target and will be elected in advance.
  • The scholarship is exempt from the tuition fee for enrolling in Long-Term Course (April 2021 intake) at ISI Kyoto and Nagano Campuses. Admission to Tokyo (Takadanobaba / Ikebukuro Campus) is not covered by the scholarship.
  • If the number of participants is small, depending on the examination results, the number of winning persons may be less than the specified number (18 persons).
  • Please note that we cannot answer inquiries regarding the content of the screening / selection and the reasons for judging individual works.
